Real Estate Designations - What do all those letters mean?
Ever wonder what the letters behind a REALTOR®'s name represent?
Most professionals agree that "knowledge leads to success." The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® has nine affiliated Institutes, Societies, and Councils. Designations acknowledging experience and expertise in various real estate sectors are awarded by each affiliated group.
Through continuing education and experience, REALTORS® can earn designations that highlight an agent's expertise in the field of Real Estate.
The CRS designation is the highest designation awarded to Real Estate agents in the residential sales field and indicates that I am a Certified Residential Specialist. It recognizes professional accomplishments in both experience and education. The CRS Designation is the standard of excellence in Real Estate. Less than 4% of all REALTORS® hold the CRS designation.
The GRI designation means that I am a graduate of the Graduate REALTOR® Institute. The education I received from this course of study has increased my knowledge and skills in a broad array of real estate subjects which have been of great benefit to my clients.
The ABR designation means that I am an Accredited Buyer Representative. This designation is awarded by the National Association of REALTORS®. The ABR Designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. It indicates that I have the experience and negotiating skills to assist my clients in every aspect of the home buying process.
With national surveys indicating that 80% of consumers consider themselves “green-minded,” real estate professionals with the EcoBroker® designation are in a better position to serve the real estate consumer. From windows to moisture control to energy savings, I have more resources at my disposal to help my buyers and sellers make better real estate decisions. The EcoBroker® designation doesn’t make me an energy and environmental expert, but it allows me to better understand the issues and to convey this understanding to my buyers and sellers.
The e-PRO designation is the only technology certification offered by the National Association of REALTORS®. It recognizes professional accomplishments in both experience and education. With more than 70% of consumers beginning their real estate research on the Internet, e-PRO certified agents have the experience and expertise to meet the demands of today's buyer and seller. Only 1% of all REALTORS® hold the e-PRO certification.
